The Pasta Vera Story

Pasta Vera was founded in 2001 by Phil Bennett and Linda Murphy through a shared passion for delicious Italian food.  Over the years Pasta Vera has continued to grow and adapt. 

21 Year later we are now based in our purpose built factory in Wigram, Christchurch.

Our focus is always on delivering high quality, locally produced fresh pasta, pesto, lasagne and ready-meals to the food service industry – and now the public as well through our retail ranges, the factory shop and fundraisers.

Our beginning

Phil Bennett and Linda Murphy started their journey 22 years ago, with a small factory in Christchurch. During this period, they developed many of the core products still sold today. 

Phil discovered his passion for food in his teens through friends that were chefs and bakers, who introduced him to the idea of being involved in the industry.

Our trip to Italy

Nothing says Italian food like pasta. Pasta is an integral part of Italy’s food history. 

Phil and Linda learned so much during this trip and have over the years, drawn on these learnings to continuously inspire product development.

The biggest accomplishment to date came with getting the business to a point of investing in a new purpose-built factory in Wigram, Christchurch in 2017.
